Aliphatic Hydrocarbons

Chemical Resistance Ratings
(Examples)

Limited Exposure:
Continuous contact with chemicals in the group over periods of short-term use, or occasional contact with chemicals in the group for brief periods of time over periods of long-term use. The Chemical Resistance Rating is based on performance after two to three months exposure to chemicals in the group at 200°F.

Extensive Exposure:
Continuous or regular contact with chemicals in the group over periods of long-term use. The Chemical Resistance Rating is based on performance after twelve months exposure to chemicals in the group at 200°F.

The ratings are:

A - Acceptable Performance
Greater than 50% retention of mechanical properties.

Q - Questionable Performance
Mechanical properties and/or swell values near the borderline for acceptable performance (within experimental error) after exposure to chemicals in the group, or large variations in the effects of exposure to different chemicals in the group.

NR - Not Recommended
Typically fails to meet the minimum standards for acceptable performance after exposure to chemicals in the group.
